Why Should History Be Kinder To You Mr. PM?

Congress History India Manmohan Singh PM
History will be kinder to me than the media, says Manmohan Singh, our existing Prime Minister of India.

I don’t know what made him derive this conclusion.

Given his qualification, a bachelor and Masters in Economics from Punjab University, Economic Tripos from University of Cambridge and a D.Phil from Oxford University, he as a Prime Minister only strengthened my faith in hollowness of educational qualification.

He has held many important posts in Indian government. He also became the Finance Minster in June 1991, during Narshimha Rao regime.

In Manmohan Singh’s own words about his debut in politics, he once told BBC journalist Mark Tulip,” On the day (Rao) was formulating his cabinet, he sent his Principal Secretary to me saying, `The PM would like you to become the Minister of Finance’. I didn’t take it seriously. He eventually tracked me down the next morning, rather angry, and demanded that I get dressed up and come to Rashtrapati Bhavan for the swearing in. So that’s how I started in politics”.

Indeed by his own admission he became the Finance Minister by chance, and yes we are a democracy. He could have been made the principal advisor to finance minister or could have been bestowed with any such apolitical post but no that’s how in India a major political post is passed on to a person who’s only tryst with an election was voting(most probably he at least voted).

Nevertheless I always supposed there was a barrier between bureaucracy and the political class.

I am though appreciable about this elevation as he gradually became the architect of a liberal economy in a globalized world. That’s the last good word I can have about him.

My biggest grudge against him is that he has never won an election and heads the Biggest Democratic Government of the World. It’s not too hard to sniff an irony over here.

He once contested for Lok Sabha in 1999 from South Delhi and lost it. The man whom people never deemed fit to represent even an assembly area was unceremoniously (Yes, Sonia Gandhi emerging from her bunglow in Hands with a less known person who didn’t even contested the election, nominating him as a PM is hardly a ceremony in a democratic nation) chosen as to head the central government.

Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister in 2004 after Sonia Gandhi’s Italian origins barred her from claiming the post. I strongly feel it was her way of taking the revenge.

An honest, disillusioned face was chosen as the barrier for an ecstatic corrupt government.

Manmohan Singh now saying that History will be kinder to him just shows nothing other than his lack of vision.

Like that’s some kind of confidence he ever had for the first time in past 10 years. Even yesterday while saying that corruption would be checked and economic will boost back his usual hopelessness was on clear display. Even the “Rahul G has all credential for becoming the PM” remark didn’t have any display of emotion or trust at all.

Why this man does thinks history to be unwary of all his deeds.

Why should be history kind to you at all?

For heading the most corrupt government of all times or for never taking the moral responsibility of the deeds of your corrupted colleagues?

Or it would be kind to you because you always preferred populist schemes over the real ones and the country went through an economic turmoil, yes you were the Expert economist weren’t you?

Or would it be kind for being at the pinnacle of the spineless government that tolerated everything from Pakistani Ceasefire to Italian Marines shooting Fishermen.

China intruded our territories, illegal immigrants from Bangladesh wreaked havoc, even Myanammar set up camps on Indian Soil. What Kind of Praise are you expecting in history for all this Mr. PM?

If you are you expecting some praise for being the First Family’s loyal assistant, let me tell you they don’t write or publish History books, I even doubt the dear Prince, for whom you always played the night batsmen, has even ever read one.

The puppets and slaves go unnamed in history.

Neither your silence on issues of national or international importance deserved to be praised nor for those customary reproof for terrorist attack.

History will remember that India is an independent country and you were the one most devoid of any Independence as its PM. History will remember how constitutional authority of such an important post was diminished badly just for the sake of sycophancy. History will remember having two power centres in India. History will remember PM post becoming symbolic.

Don’t expect any kindness, though there could be a little pity.

While tying that turban every day I don’t know how such an educated, remarkable, honest individual faces itself in mirror after this disgraceful journey of 9 years.

He had much but he lost much more!!!
