Filled Under:

Our undying Love for Everything Desi and Dirty!

Can you guess what’s common between all the historical monuments of India? No it is not that they are all under the scanner of Archeological Survey of India but indeed it’s their consistent stature as the symbol of our local love birds.

In fact if you didn’t spot a “Pappu Loves Pooja” or “Raju love Reshma” boldly written inside a meticulously drawn oversized heart over the walls of every monument that you have visited in India then probably you didn’t look too keenly.

It is our way of expressing love. And it is not because of the fact that we like to show off or something but in the country whose biggest recognition in outer world is as the land of Tajmahal- the monument of love we are hell bent to convert each one of the other one’s as somewhat the same.
Indeed if the Mughal’s or The Maurya’s would have a slightest of idea of how we modern Indian’s look forward to utilizing their architectural marvels they would have certainly erected huge blackboards at all the vantage points of such monuments.

Ok, had you ever tried making your contribution to these structures? I know if you had you would agree how Tajmahal shamelessly teases us all in that department.

For us Tajmahal isn’t the only symbol of Love. Indeed we wonder why Shahjahan ditched us all by being so selfish and erecting such a wonderful piece of marvel for just her wife. Didn’t he realize how tough it would be for us to express our love on those white marble walls? How on earth can he expect us to always carry a bold black marker on a romantic date? His ancestors were at least little better on their part of utilizing red stone for all such endeavors.  Just a piece of brick lying across the floor or even a stick does the tricks and makes over love immortal.

Yes we are Desi’s and it is our way of expressing love and you don’t dare object to our Constitutional right of freedom of expression.

What? Oh, so you think I don’t know my Duties? Are you kidding me! Don’t you know how much tax I pay? Foolish you!

Ah, so where was I. Yes I was telling you about the Love. Apart from our right to expression what we love the most is our freedom. A freedom to do anything, anywhere and you better beware from telling us, “Tu Jaanta nahi mein kaun hun!”

Dustbin for us is more of a showpiece whose overall existence outside our houses is just plain invalid. We don’t even honor it with a mere recognition. And why should we. Every time we have an urge to throw something it is always at the farthest corner. So you see it’s not entirely our fault.
And yes we use the dirtiest cloth in the house to clean anything and everything. What good are these anyway for anything else? You see re-usability is in our genes. It is actually us who have brought the concept of renewable resources to the world. And that is how environmentally aware we have always been.

What? We spit on the roads and on walls? So what? Do you really expect us to gulp that entire tobacco and betel leaf ensemble? Do you even know how hazardous it is? We have to care for our health, don’t we?

So what if we have painted more square foot of walls in red stains that even Asian and Narolac combined can never paint ever. But it is what we are and we love it that way. Don’t poke your nose here. Go mind your own business.

We are The Desi’s and we love the dirty.
