In Rahul Gandhi's Amethi its Dynasty vs Development

I was seeing various election coverage of different News Channels from Amethi last night. From media veterans like Barkha Dutt and Dibang to more young and fierce Rahul Kanwal and many other reporters of all news channels have lately thronged the much-hyped and much-debated VVIP constituency of Amethi.

When as a viewer you thoroughly analyze the ground details you are bound to be amazed by perceptions and contradictions that this so called Gandhi bastion offers.

Lets first talk about a few takeaways from all these analogies-

The development of Amethi is actually a dream that hadn't been realised in last 10 years.  Their are ofcourse factories and industries in Amethi which largely find their origins in the times of Sanjay and Rajiv Gandhi and as of now maximum of these remain out of function.

If their are potholes on roads everywhere else in the country, Amethi certainly stands a little apart. Actually here you have to struggle hard to find a road among potholes. A popular rhetoric in Amethi is," Duniya mein Sadak lambai mein naapi jaati hai par Amethi mein hum gad-dhon ki gehrai naapte hain".

Amethi tops from bottom in UP when it comes to successful implementation of NREGA, one of the dream project of Rahul Gandhi in India.

If we talk about Rahul Gandhi's other close to heart projects, RTI in Amethi is in the same state as anywhere else in rural India, doesn't matters. As much as Women Empowerment is concerned, according to unconfirmed reports atleast 11 expecting mother's lost their unborn child's due to pathetic road conditions in last 4 months in Amethi region alone.

Rahul Gandhi talks about erecting 55,000 toilets in the area. If you go on ground and try finding one be sure in numbers they won't exceed the population of tigers in India.

So this was a little information of what Amethi has actually recieved after electing Gandhi Family representatives again and again from last so many years.

What saddens me most is the fact that even today lot of people mostly of older age talk about voting for congress. Their reason remain unanimously the fact that they have been doing it since forever and would stick to it. What they don't understand is that by even saying so they are eradicating and insulting the very idea of democracy.

I spotted an old person who said that Amethi should be obliged to Gandhi family because it is because of them that the area has gotten a revered recognition in the country. I indeed beg to differ a little.

 I also come from a small distict of Uttar Pradesh. In Delhi where I live today, hardly people who aren't from that region seem to have heard its name. I love it whenever my district makes it to news. I love it when people get to know about it for one reason or the other. But i would never want it to be recognized as a place of some underdog candidate who failed at delivering even the basic amenties of life.

For me its better to remain unnamed than to make a bad name. We all should remember what Lalu Yadav once did to Bihar. The identity of Bihar and Bihari has become a thoroughly used abuse all across the nation. People from this state has to start hiding their identity and were forced to pass themselves off as residents of bordering districts of UP owing to their dialect and lingo.

Amethi has to think now whether it wants to become another one of such example. Certainly Amethi has a lot more to it than being a Gandhi bastion.

Today it is clearly a fight between dynasty and development and a Gandhi winning this time would be a colective loss to Amethi as well as to an India of our dreams. Preserve it before it gets too late.

Why Congress Has to Go?

Part-1

Today I would like to pour my heart out as a common Indian. It’s hard for me to control my feelings, I am just too happy, too Hopeful, I love this country and its people more than ever before. I Knew we can do it, I knew we will do it, But Yes We did it is a feeling that’s amazing in its own ways.

When I was in school, one of the subjects that I personally didn't like much was History and Civics. In history, there were stories of someone defeating, another someone, about a thousand years ago and we were supposed to know all about it. We mugged up these and passed exams. Then there was civics, it told us our rights and duties, actually being born in an Independent India almost all these things were what we always used to take for granted.

But a thing that we all always learnt, were aware of and believed in is- India being a Democracy. We loved this thing about our country a bit too much. We would quote this line in almost all the debates, whether formal or informal. We spoke this line when we opposed some consensus decision among our friends. It was a part of our life; it was part of our living.

Like everyone else, I also grew up. Got interested in politics. Started reading newspapers, articles, editorials. The moment I started doing these was a comparative high face of India. Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was at the helm of the government, and India was doing well enough for my expectations. Then came the time when Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam became the president, and our generation got its new hero. A person so great, so humble and so simple. Almost every one of us specially the children community and the young ones, were all personally proud of him being our president.

Time moved and came 2004. The NDA government lost and UPA came in to existence. This was the day when my notions about India, its democracy and we the people started changing. I exactly remember the drama that unfolded after formation of UPA. One lady was deemed to be the PM, another one of similar influence warned to shove-off her Head if that happens. Someone else was brought in to picture. Not to forget the constitutional obligations that forced this transition.

This someone else was a person who was extensively popularized at that time as a man of unquestionable integrity. To be frank enough I didn't knew this guy till then. When he did some magic with our economy I was just 2-3 years old. The chapters that I read about globalization and liberalization didn't include any names. So after closely following an election here I was exposed to someone becoming the PM whom I didn't even know. My interest in politics was unparalleled. I was as interested in politics as other boys my age were in cricket. And this incident was like the induction of Duck-worth louis in cricket, I thought I knew a lot but was still unable to fathom anything at all.

I also came in possession of the three-page impressive CV of Dr. Manmohan Singh that was doing rounds those days in emails. I somehow felt good about the guy, but my understanding of the democracy lessons still didn't came well in terms with it. I was not ready to accept him as my PM, but then as a 15 year old boy I wasn’t in a position to even induce a decision of changing the Television-set in my house, let alone the PM.

So obviously unable to do anything else I thought to give him a chance and decided to stay interested in politics as always.

The first term from 2004 to 2009 was fine. We became accustomed to a PM who had a mysterious wind around him. He didn't speak much; I always believed this was because he knew his opinion never mattered. It was always someone else taking the decisions, right!

I hated this part of it. For me believing that the most powerful post of our country would become so insignificant is what marks the start of my journey to hate this government and party.

Then came the second term and all hell broke loose. There was a CWG in which even an Umbrella was purchased for 18,000 rupees and finally it was the army that had to be roped in at the last moment to save country’s pride. Everything from a toilet paper to treadmill was purchased in never heard before prices. It was one of the many scams that followed.

We got to knew about a 2G scam, Coal Scam, Chopper Scam, Tatra Truck Scam, Cash-for-Vote Scam, Adarsh Scam etc...etc.

The list was so huge; it looked like every other guy in the government was having an exclusive scam for himself. The amounts involved were huge. If one starts writing them in numerals the number of zeros would go from one end of page to another.

I was bewildered, agitated. There was certainly zero accountability. Scams were happening, blame games were on, court cases were dragging, but no one in particular was ashamed. Even the guy of unquestionable integrity had by now learned the tricks of the dirty politics.

In this government the buck never stopped anywhere. No one was responsible for anything bad. All good things were credited to a holier-than-thou first family. The brains deciding about the policies and the mouth announcing it were all different. No one cared for common people at all. Corruption was in mainstream, accountability had become completely outdated.  This wasn't the idea of democracy that was cultivated in my mind.  I hated it to the core.

Nevertheless, this isn't all of the story. Their is a lot more to it. There are endless tales of sycophancy, promotions for being incapable, grave mishandling of economy as well as no desire to take any responsibility for anything at all. I will discuss that some other day.

But for now, Thank You India, you restored my faith in democracy. Yes we don’t need a dictator. We don’t need a monarch. My country doesn't need someone who wants to operate from some closely guarded shell.

The first lesson is taught, though the final one is indispensable. No volume of punishment is much enough for marring the structure of a Democracy. Let’s ensure they are out of it. 

Let’s ensure those who don’t believe in the idea of constructive and all inclusive democracy don’t get any chance to cast their shadow on its soul.

Yes it’s imperative for our democracy now, and we will together do it for sure.

Finally, I would also like to utilize this opportunity to wish Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, a Happy Birthday today.
Indeed Power is Poison and I assure you ma"am we will try our best to keep this poison away from you. And yes your creative son's contribution in this regard is really noteworthy. Anyways Happy Birthday Once again.

Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, Who is better?

India today is bewildered with a choice. And actually it is a very tough one to choose best candidate for the prime position in India. Though from the hoards of leaders of the third front group to an old Zinnah praising patriarch, there are a lot many people carving out to have a taste of the most powerful seat in India, but the revered honour is not so easy to get. Indeed practically the fight is confined to only two people.

On one hand we have a democratically chosen three term CM roaring like a lion demanding votes on a record of development whereas on the other a born-with-silver-spoon, very young at 43 many times clueless scion of oldest political party of India.

Let us start with a brief introduction of the two.

To begin with let us talk about Modi. His journey started even before the days of emergency and from a humble position of a karykarta. He became the CM of Gujarat in 2001 by replacing Keshubhai Patel who was cornered due to incompetency in dealing with Gujarat earthquakes.  Thereafter he has always been elected with complete majority for two more consecutive terms and proudly endorses his achievements of proficiently developing Gujarat everywhere. 

Secondly comes Rahul Gandhi, he owns the title of future prime minister of India from the day he was born. He has served at various posts in INC. Obviously enough; his journey has been too swift and fast. In 2004 Gandhi entered public life; he ran for and won his father's old seat of Amethi. Soon enough in 2007, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Congress party, a previously executive post held by his father, and by his great-grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru. Amidst calls from Congress party veterans for his greater involvement in party politics and national government, Gandhi was elected Congress Vice President in 2013. Choose to call it inspiring or full of struggle but this is the actual story of the youth icon’s 9 year long journey to the top.

But when we do comparative study, we find that:

Modi has the charm to mesmerize people with his enthralling speeches; he keeps people spellbound where as Rahul lacks the aura of a leader, reading speeches maybe termed ok but at least then it should make some sense. He sounds very unconvincing and at times too naive to be in this competition.

Modi talks about developments he has done, makes fearless remarks over misuse of CBI and bluntly refuses to bow down to any conspiracies and allegations.

 Rahul tells us about the escape velocity of Jupiter, recites the story of his friends killing his grandmother and shamelessly gives a discourse on problems his very own party has created.

Also thumping Crowds at the rallies of Modi is engrossing and increasing day by day contrary to the sights of thinning crowds at Rahul’s rally. After all if congress remembers India is a democracy and head count matters!

Frankly enough if the circle he stays in would have had little less sycophants’ maybe Mr.Gandhi would have a faceoff with reality and he would have become of some real use.

UPA has now ruled us for more than 9 years and has literally jeopardized economy. Price rise, unemployment, poverty had all made new records. Now scams are happening in amounts having innumerable zeros after some random digit.

I don’t say modi would bring with him some magic wand and change everything overnight but at least we have enough reasons to rely on him to hand over our nation to his proficient leadership. On a lighter note, he even doesn’t have a son-in-law to whom he could gift some millennium city.

The thing is I would never give the keys to my home to a robber who has been robbing my house since long time.
 The Key is your vote, the house is your country and else you know who is who!!! 
Decide well and do vote. 

The Point is very simple and straight- At the end it is your country you will vote for and it’s high time to choose whether you want to pay for your vote or get rewarded for it.
