What all went wrong in #SelfieWithDaughter campaign and Shruti Seth Saga!

On Sunday June 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited people to share their #SelfieWithDaughter in order to promote Girl child welfare. The campaign generated a viral response and it took not much long before twitter timelines were filled with proud parents flaunting their #SelfieWithDaughter .

A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words!

But as they say India is the land of diversity. While many twitter celebrities were condemning their fate for not having a daughter or still being unmarried, a few others decided to express their adverse opinion on this idea.

Actor Shruti Seth and activist Kavita Krishnan  were among the most vocal people who questioned this campaign and garnered maximum eyeballs not to mention, the rants!

They both became targets for a lot of trolls for criticizing #SelfieWithDaughter campaign. While Krishnan's tweet referred to a snooping incident of illegal surveillance of a young woman in 2009, Seth's tweet commented on the PM being selfie-obsessed rather than real work.

Some of the tweets targeted on them were in really bad taste and should have been avoided at all costs. Indeed what else could have been easily averted was a not so well thought criticism of a nice and appealing concept.

While everyone has a right to opinion, everyone also has a right to rebuttal. Comments of Shruti Seth suggesting honorable Prime Minister to get on ground and stop being so #SelfieObsessed was worth criticizing. Though the route people took for it is something that I strongly disagree with.

Happiness Hurts None!

Factually it would be wrong to say that social media campaigns don't have any affect on grounds. Soaring revenues of Facebook and twitter from paid campaigns is the best proof of how people are utilizing these mediums to get their message to masses. If the prime minister of India is capable enough to spread a good message to millions of people by costing nothing to the exchequer, I don't get what's wrong in this?

All he did was mention it over his radio address and tweet it through his account.

What if among millions of his social media followers even a few hundreds changed their opinion of not having a daughter?

What if seeing all those proud father-daughter selfie's some men in a village of Haryana decided to shun plans of an illegal ultrasound of her wife for knowing the gender of their unborn child?

What if it added some sweet memories for a girl who was being ignored by her family for long and was for the first time lovingly invited by her father for a photograph?

No, these are not entirely fictional situations. India is too big and diverse for anything to happen.

Even if you do not agree with any of the above things, even you can not deny that it would have touched lives of many hundreds of girls throughout India and the World!

Indeed I would like to ask what exactly did Shruti Seth's and Kavita Krishnan's not so well thought criticism achieved?

If they think #SelfieWithDaughter was just a symbolic gesture and have so much dissent for symbolic gestures I would really want to know what they think of people who marched with candles on India gate for one of India's daughter. Wasn't it also a symbolic gesture. Even the Fast-unto-deaths do not directly yield anything other than weight loss and can be very well called as a symbolic gesture, but aren't they an excellent medium that our founding fathers blessed us with?

Both these learned ladies must have heard of Mahatma Gandhi and what all he did for India's independence. Wasn't many of the campaigns he undertook and promoted can be classified as symbolic gestures? Or shall I say talking a "Dandi March" and making a pinch of salt doesn't solves issues instead he should have walked in all Indian streets distributing salt packets to everyone!

It is easy to speak, type or tweet sitting under comforts of our home. Making policies and governing people is a completely different story.

I hope someday they will understand what I mean to say. A country of billion people does requires symbolic gestures. Gestures that have power to convert an idea in to a mass movement. Gestures that can touch lives. Gestures that you and I can become a part of. Because One man can't bring the change unless we become a part of it!

Ms. Shruti Seth and Ms. Kavita Krishnan, I won't say you did it for publicity, I won't say the people hurling abuses on you two over twitter were right but I must say that with name and fame comes a responsibility. Onus of being a responsible citizen doesn't lie on one PM or few Ministers but it is a collective responsibility that we all should collectively share.

#SelfieWithDaughter was a honest attempt to make people proud of their daughter. This was a small part of a social change that our Honorable PM and proud citizens want to see in India.
It will happen, not today, not tomorrow but someday for sure and I hope you will be happy to be a part of it!

Corruption, Religion, Politics and We the People of India!!!

A complete analogy of everything from Congress led corrupt government to fatal fate of UP voters to Gujrat Riot issue and role of We the People of India in this all. How and why are we reduced to the place of Pawns in this divisive democracy?

India today is unfortunately lacking behind expectation and beyond imagination on more than many fronts. Be it economic stability or protecting the sovereignty of the nation, the present government has failed its people on each and everything they desire.

Yes, we the people are fed up of congress. We don’t want to see advertisements worth Crores of rupees in newspaper on Birthdays and death anniversaries of Rajiv, Indira or Nehru, Instead we want that money to be spent on something fruitful, something worthwhile. Nevertheless it’s too late for to make Congress understand all this. With time they have become a party of sycophants and blind followers. The Mother-Son duo has tarnished the very fabric of Democracy to an irreparable extent.

From the last ten years they are treating our country, our very own India, like their personal private limited business, even that would have more accountability than this crocodile skinned good-for nothing government.

People of India, precisely the middle class have suffered unbearable pains under the latent dictatorial rule of the present UPA government. This class is completely exhausted. They all hate congress and everything remotely related to it to the last extent.

The congress party in its rule of over five decade has given nothing to this country except for many programs and schemes on the names of Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Many of these have been completely hollow and proved disastrous to economy and most of these have been worked only as pits to loot more and more money.

Sir Winston Churchill, the war time Prime Minister of England said in June 1947,” Power will go on to hands of rogues, rascals, freebooters; ; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw… They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles.”

As of Now it doesn't seem like we need any proof of the visionary skills of this man.

Congress has for years and years used the same propaganda of Divide and Rule which was used by Britisher’s years ago. Yet, we the people of India again and again failed to understand the evil face of this party.

On the name of being secular they divided nation like no one else. The UPA alliance consists of allies who get their base from region, religion and caste based politics.

UP’s Behenji the seasoned player of caste based politics supports congress and in return she becomes flawless from all corruption charges.

Another father-son duo from the same state feel shameless in going to any extent of minority appeasement even like dropping of charges and terrorist cases from the persons of a certain religion(The idea got severely criticized by Allahabad High court and thus had to be dropped) and giving selective scholarship to the girls of a particular religion.

I just don’t understand what kind of dirty politics is this. I feel agitated over such shameless display of partisan governance.

Ironically the Neta Ji of this visionary party says that he supports Congress just to keep “Sampadaaik Shatiyaan” at bay!!!

They have actually made a complete religion communal and everything else secular. They fool us and we get fooled time and again.

Like what kind of secularism is this? Do they even know what being secular means? Even the new debutant of this kind of politics from Bihar, Mr.Nitish Kumar, who joyfully adorns a skull cap at any given occasion and has reportedly refused to cover his head in a Gurudwara recently, is trying very hard to woo minority and backward caste voters.

Why, I ask why? Is this what the sovereign India republic stands for?

Is this what India wants today? No, Not at all. The villages need proper sanitation, water supply, power supply and roads. The urban areas require better infrastructure, more jobs and a check on price rise. Whole of the India wants to get rid of corruption.

We want a fight on these issues and we as the people of India should pressurize our leaders to make them as the core issues instead of promising religion based benefits.

Take the example of UP. Divided in all this stuff of caste and religion the state has come to a point where its people only get to choose between a CM all interested in building Monuments with her own statues or a leader form a laptop distributing party which happily enjoys a decked-with-celebrities family extravaganza in their native place completely sponsored by honest taxpayers money while the children’s of the same state are dying in a relief camp.

Till we keep on getting divided and continue voting based only on our religion and caste this is all we are going to get.

Secularism today has confined itself to the idea of blindly supporting everything except Hinduism and for some people it has moved to the level of being completely against Hindu religion and practices.

No, it’s not secularism.
Its stupidity, foolishness and more over its completely irrational.

Nobody and I repeat nobody has a right to raise a finger over what I think of my religion, how I practice it and what I believe in. And it equally applies to the people of all the religions.

I don’t want any party to discriminate between me and my fellow citizen, based on what religions we follow. We all, irrespective of what religion we follow should understand that only when we will vote above caste and religion, can we expect a growth that’s inclusive. Else wise every section of society will only remain as a mere vote bank ho will be remembered and pampered only once in five years.

But miserably this is where congress has brought us today. They have nothing else to talk for, they don’t believe in development, they don’t in growth, economic stability, checking price rise etc. Nothing matters to them because they know at the time of elections they will divert all attention from these issues and would only focus on their bogus secular credentials. Congress and its allies bang hard on this point.

Congress wants to counter BJP’s prime ministerial candidate by projecting him as a polarizing figure. They would cry their heart out that he s the most communal person in India. They will try hard to make everyone believe that as soon as Modi comes to power he will get all minority population out of this country or at least would make their life hell. Indeed he’s never going to do any such thing.

People should understand these things, should look deeper in to issues. Person’s mourning Gujrat Riot victims even now should also know how many people die in India due to hunger every day? How many children’s die due to malnourishment?  What is the number of farmers committing suicide every year?

All these are also deaths, happening daily. But no we will not count these because we don’t know their religion, we don’t know their caste and they don’t induce any vote bank.

Whom to blame- Price Rise? Deflecting Economy? Corruption?

No we need to blame ourselves, because we vote our leaders without knowing what their credentials are, what they are promising and are they honest. Instead knowing their name and realizing he belongs to our caste or religion is enough for us to vote. It’s obvious they loot us, but who cares at least we are being looted from one of our own, isn’t it?

Gujrat Riot Story is only an example of how even a riot can be suitably glamorised, magnificently advertised, cooked up and refreshed regularly only because it suits the platter of some religion based vote hungry politics.

It is time to live in present for the betterment of future. It is time we understand the mollified intentions of some politicians. It’s time we start thinking only and only of India and its development.

Remember, even a beggar pays tax because he also eats and surely purchases something that taxable. We all fund our government and their needs to be more say of our in it beyond sending only our caste and religion representatives to it.

We are not the pawns, We are the Kings only if we realize and know our power.

Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, Who is better?

India today is bewildered with a choice. And actually it is a very tough one to choose best candidate for the prime position in India. Though from the hoards of leaders of the third front group to an old Zinnah praising patriarch, there are a lot many people carving out to have a taste of the most powerful seat in India, but the revered honour is not so easy to get. Indeed practically the fight is confined to only two people.

On one hand we have a democratically chosen three term CM roaring like a lion demanding votes on a record of development whereas on the other a born-with-silver-spoon, very young at 43 many times clueless scion of oldest political party of India.

Let us start with a brief introduction of the two.

To begin with let us talk about Modi. His journey started even before the days of emergency and from a humble position of a karykarta. He became the CM of Gujarat in 2001 by replacing Keshubhai Patel who was cornered due to incompetency in dealing with Gujarat earthquakes.  Thereafter he has always been elected with complete majority for two more consecutive terms and proudly endorses his achievements of proficiently developing Gujarat everywhere. 

Secondly comes Rahul Gandhi, he owns the title of future prime minister of India from the day he was born. He has served at various posts in INC. Obviously enough; his journey has been too swift and fast. In 2004 Gandhi entered public life; he ran for and won his father's old seat of Amethi. Soon enough in 2007, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Congress party, a previously executive post held by his father, and by his great-grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru. Amidst calls from Congress party veterans for his greater involvement in party politics and national government, Gandhi was elected Congress Vice President in 2013. Choose to call it inspiring or full of struggle but this is the actual story of the youth icon’s 9 year long journey to the top.

But when we do comparative study, we find that:

Modi has the charm to mesmerize people with his enthralling speeches; he keeps people spellbound where as Rahul lacks the aura of a leader, reading speeches maybe termed ok but at least then it should make some sense. He sounds very unconvincing and at times too naive to be in this competition.

Modi talks about developments he has done, makes fearless remarks over misuse of CBI and bluntly refuses to bow down to any conspiracies and allegations.

 Rahul tells us about the escape velocity of Jupiter, recites the story of his friends killing his grandmother and shamelessly gives a discourse on problems his very own party has created.

Also thumping Crowds at the rallies of Modi is engrossing and increasing day by day contrary to the sights of thinning crowds at Rahul’s rally. After all if congress remembers India is a democracy and head count matters!

Frankly enough if the circle he stays in would have had little less sycophants’ maybe Mr.Gandhi would have a faceoff with reality and he would have become of some real use.

UPA has now ruled us for more than 9 years and has literally jeopardized economy. Price rise, unemployment, poverty had all made new records. Now scams are happening in amounts having innumerable zeros after some random digit.

I don’t say modi would bring with him some magic wand and change everything overnight but at least we have enough reasons to rely on him to hand over our nation to his proficient leadership. On a lighter note, he even doesn’t have a son-in-law to whom he could gift some millennium city.

The thing is I would never give the keys to my home to a robber who has been robbing my house since long time.
 The Key is your vote, the house is your country and else you know who is who!!! 
Decide well and do vote. 

The Point is very simple and straight- At the end it is your country you will vote for and it’s high time to choose whether you want to pay for your vote or get rewarded for it.

Modi Is the Hope of New Emergent India!

India is a developing country and now sees its power in the large amount of young people it has. Going by the fact that more than 64% of India’s 1.2billion plus population is below 40, we should be more focused on utilizing this workforce rather than divulging in to some pity political gimmick. We need to change our mindset to say the least.

And the change is about to come with the help of these huge amounts of youngsters in this thriving country. They no more feel connected (considering the fact they once did, though I doubt) to proclaimed 47 years old youth icon of the congress party, who for them symbolizes none other than a born with silver spoon prince. Although this generation is good enough to understand the difference between a monarchy and a democracy and want later to flourish.

No matter how hard the main stream media tries to call Modi with various deadly epitomes and present him as the true and only villain in the Indian politics, his popularity on various social media platforms is unhampered. He is no more a divisive figure but a figure symbolizing good governance and accountability.

People have had enough of Temple-Mosque truce and are no more interested to be fooled again. They want employment, education, better infrastructure and if not completely finished then at least lowered corruption. And they only see one man fit the bill- Modi.  Moreover, the business class and growing breed of entrepreneurs’ looks in to him a savior of the sinking economy of the country.

Barring Nehru and Atal Bihari India ironically not had chance of getting many good speakers as PM. Indira and Rajiv though were good crowd pullers but failed to impress with their speeches. Modi on the other hand is an orator of a kind. He understands his audience very well, speaks what they want to hear and fill with anecdotes and imagery immediately strike a chord with his listeners.

His vigorous campaigning and development focused speeches has garnered very good responses from varied parts of the country. One may like him or hate him but the man has truly become impossible to ignore.
