Filled Under:

Fabulous experience at Indibloggers Nokia #YWMA Meet!!!

“When You Shed the Inhibitions, You Find the Real Pleasure that awaits for”- This line should rather sum-up my experience at the Grand Your Wish is My App II Nokia Indi-Blogger Meet.

I choose the word Grand because it’s what it was. Right from the hosts to the anchors to the venue, food, wine and off-course the indi-bloggers, everything about this event was just superb.

Nevertheless, this actually was my first India Blogger Meet.

The day I received the mail announcing registrations for it, I didn’t wait a minute more to just go and do that. I did register immediately and reserved a seat.

The timing I thought was little concerning as it was a Friday but then I was really interested to be a part of it and decided to take a half day leave. As I had already taken too many leaves and was practically running out of all the logical excuses hence decided to go with a completely creepy one this time and applied for it, two days in advance.

You should have seen the expression of my boss when he read it out. The way he reacted even I got confused whether I had actually attached some one way ticket to mars with the leave application. He made all possible fuss about my half-day leave and finally agreed to it after seeing my absolute reluctance to back off at all.

So my biggest problem was over and I was all prepared to go. Finally the D-Day arrived.
I prepared myself by reading about the previous meets browsing through indiblogger. I was little apprehensive about going their all alone. I am also not very old over indiblogger and as of now don’t have any good networking with many people over that forum as well.

So there were almost many contrary thoughts going in my mind even till I reached the venue. Walking in a place full of all the strangers didn’t seemed like a great idea to me, but then I eventually decided to try it for once at least (Afterwards I felt like thanking myself for this final opinion).

So I left my flat in Mayur Vihar around 5.30 pm took a metro to Pragti Maidan. De-boarded there, took an auto and finally reached the Oberoi hotel at around 6.20pm.

After entering the hotel I enquired with the guard about the indiblogger meet. I was shocked with the reply- “Sir,Yahan to aisa kuch nahi hai”. I again tried him by telling him that it was scheduled today only at 6.30 PM and the venue was Oberoi. He again nodded in dissent but luckily informed me that there was some Nokia meet going on in the hall at the need of the corridor.

I reached to the hall gates, found some people lined up there and a lady was opening the door and getting a group of 5 people inside at a time. It was a bit late and hardly 12-13 people were at front and within minutes I got my turn to register.

It was pretty hush-hush affair and the way it was done I didn’t feel like organizers actually wanted to regulate the entry (Anyways I am absolutely fine with that). So registration was more of a formality than anything else. Also maybe this was the reason why the event hall fell short of few chairs. Though I read in the comment section that friends or family wasn’t allowed but I don’t think people obliged. It would have been great if they did. Indeed a thing that’s perfect is inhuman!!!

Eventually I took a seat and waited for the event to start. It started at 7.10. I didn’t know the guy who started with the emcee part and neither did he introduce himself. I guess he was Rennie!? (Please correct if I am wrong)

This guy was just hilarious. The Wi-fi password prank where he told to note down the password as it was too tough and after alerting everyone with paper and pen announced it as “nokia123” was a good thing to start with.( Actually the Oberoi Wi-Fi didn’t asked for a password to connect and neither did it work after connecting)

The customary “Hurr Hurr” was surely a mood setter and yes the way indiblogger team managed the late coming of the judges (most probably this was the issue) through that repeated appearance of masked man was the practical combination of humorous awesome innovation. I suppose these guys really know how to laugh-off problems!!!

I much liked the introductory part of his address, “There is only one rule that there are no rules. So if amidst anything happening over here on the stage, anytime you feel like standing over a chair and dance, just do it.”
I mean I was really impressed by his public speaking comfort level. The ease and promptness with which he did that is really commendable. Nevertheless there aren’t many crazy people who would actually start dancing even if told to do so but then also there are even much lesser persons who would take the risk of making such announcement in a hall outside which there is a free and open bar.
This champ was gutsy enough!!!

Ok so, after it the gorgeous lady from Nokia was called upon. She passed it on to Mr. P.Bala Ji who rolled out a very informative and interesting presentation about dominance of cell phone over vast Indian internet market and introduced us to second season of Nokia India Your Wish My App.

After the end of his presentation the real Judges Mr. Rajiv Makhani, Mr. Vikas Khanna & Mr. Vishal Gondal took the stage by storm. All three of them were in their witty best.

There were lots of fun filled activities with prizes. There were prizes for youngest blogger, oldest blogger, the blogger who came from farthest distance and also for the nearest one. People were asked for their app idea and, prizes were generously showered on all the participants.

The biggest prize of the evening went to a little girl who suggested a beautiful app idea of organ donation. She won a Lumia worth INR 55,000.

The event commenced with the lavish dinner spread in the adjacent hall. The food undoubtedly was delicious.

After it the indiblogger team has also arranged for indibuses and these cabs dropped the bloggers to different areas of the city. Indiblogger team and especially Karthik took great care to manage cabs and were personally involved in assuring safe drop for every person.

It was really really a great experience and I anxiously look forward to the next meet.  Thanks to Nokia and IndiBlogger for the great evening.

MY APP IDEA:

I would like an App to be developed for Blood Donors. I would name it as “Save Life, Share Blood”. I have thought a lot about this and its actually technically feasible thing that surely needs to be developed. This app after downloading allows users to register over it with their details and blood group. There would be a home page where people can post their request for particular blood groups. Also there would be an option that would show the list of all the persons with same blood group together with their locations as provided by them during registration. Users will have facility to DM with blood requirement request to other members whom they find nearer to them.
This is need of time as blood is an essential requirement in many medical emergencies. There are willing donors, there are needy patients but the problem is unavailability of any forum to combine the both. This app would do that and would be very helpful.
